Life at home with Tegon

It's been almost three weeks since we brought Tegon home and we've loved every moment of it (and yes, a little tired).  I can't stop kissing the poor little guy!  Tegon has been a great baby (so far).  Eats well, poops well, and sleeps well.  He doesn't really cry, we've found he's more of a grunter.  If he doesn't like it he grunts, if he wants to eat he grunts, if he's pooping he grunts.  We know he's really mad when he cries, which he doesn't do often.  We've also found that he likes being in the car, but gets tired of the car seat after a few hours, and he loves being in the shower.  The picture of him crying is because I took him out of the shower!  I'm off on maternity leave until early August, and I can already tell that I will not want to leave my baby boy.  I'm thoroughly in love.Red heart

Our Son

We can't believe that our little son, Tegon, is finally here!  It was an experience with an amazing outcome. Red heart  A quick account of Tegon's birth.....I had the beginning of contractions on Monday, May 5, but not having any Braxton-Hicks, I called the doctor.  I was told that I might be in early labor but to call back when the contractions were 5 min apart.  Never happened.  The next day I felt fine, had a few contractions throughout the day and night and on Wednedsday I called in sick to work because of the contractions the night before.  Thomas and I decided to go to the hospital around noon because my contractions seemed to increase in intensity and were about 10 - 15 min apart, but I was sent home as I was not dilated at all.  So Thomas and I did a little shopping!  Every 10-15 min. I had to stop in an aisle and breath through a contraction.  I think it was the retail therapy, because the contractions got closer and more severe.  We contemplated going in again, but didn't want to be turned away.  By 11 however my contractions were every 5 min and really intense.  Thomas finally said that's it, we're going!  When we got to the hospital I was dilated to 4!  Time to have Tegon!  I was wheeled into our suite where Thomas was an AWESOME coach and helped me breath through each contraction because at times I was breathing too hard or fast.  I was given an IV where I started to shake uncontrollably and then the anestheologist came in to do the epidural...(what, now?! sticking a needle in my spine while I was shaking uncontrollably did not seem like a good idea!)  So I sat up on the edge of the bed and held onto Thomas.  The epidural was a breeze and I felt  so much better!  I think we slept for a couple hours and then the nurse came in and said time to push!  I started pushing around 5 but Tegon's head was hitting up against my pelvis so the doctor had to vacuum the poor little guy out....Thomas couldn't believe how hard the doctor was pulling, but at 6:49 AM on Thursday, May 8th, our son was born.  Thomas cut the umbilical cord and Tegon was placed on my chest.  I started bawling, he was perfect!  Our little family was able to leave the next day around noon.  Papa, Mama and baby are all doing great.  Tegon is already back to his birth weight, feeding great, pooping more than great, and we are loving every minute of him.

Racing Day

Thomas has always loved racing...okay, the car isn't much to look at, but it's a lot of fun to watch.  And Thomas has a lot of fun racing.  He bought the car for $300, did a little tweeking, and the car turned out to be a fast little runner.  This was his second race at the Evergreen Fair Grounds in Monroe, WA, 325 laps.  Ryan Powell also races with him, and it's a battle to see who will do better.  During his first race Thomas was knocked into the ditch during an 80-some-odd lap where his tie axel broke and he was unable to finish.  My sisters and I were there supporting him and were so disappointed when he showed up in the stands to let us know he was finished.  This second race he lasted almost half way when he broke a belt causing a lot of other problems.  My whole family was there to cheer him on, again disappointed that Thomas was out of the race.  Watching a 350 lap race doesn't sound like much fun, but when you know somebody who is racing, it makes it a lot more interesting.  Especially with near misses, collisions with cars, collisions with tires/bumpers, or the car catching on fire!  (Yes, that happened this time, just a little fire under the carriage that went out after a few minutes).  Fun for my family to watch, a little nerve wracking for me.

First Blog

So I thought that I'd start a McMaster family website since our little famiy is growing by one.  Some place for my family and friends to see what we are up to WAY out here is Pasco.  I think it's a great way to keep in touch and be able to see (ie. ADD PHOTOSWink) how each of us our growing with our own little families.  I'd love for you all to visit and blog often!
